Privacy Policy
This policy explains how AMALTHEA LLC ("Amilla", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use Hilo, our app and guest event pages (together, the "Service").
Information we collect
Members (people who use the Hilo app)
- Your phone number, which you verify with a one-time code to sign in.
- Your name and any profile details you choose to add.
- Events you create or join, your RSVPs, and the communities you belong to.
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications.
Guests (people who RSVP on an event page)
- Your name and phone number, and your RSVP for the event you were invited to.
Technical information
- Basic device and log information (such as IP address, device type and error reports) that we use to keep the Service secure and working.
How we use information
- To run the Service: verify phone numbers, show events and RSVPs, and let hosts see who is coming.
- To send messages about events you're part of (see "Text messages" below).
- To prevent abuse, for example by rate-limiting verification codes.
- To fix bugs and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Text messages (SMS)
If you give us your phone number on a Hilo event page, we text you a one-time code to confirm it, and then a small number of messages about that event: RSVP confirmations, changes to time or place, cancellations, and RSVP deadline reminders. We do not send marketing texts.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; reply HELP for help, or email hello@amilla.io.
We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the service providers that deliver our messages, and only for that purpose.
How we share information
- With other people in your event. Hosts see the names and RSVPs of people invited to their event. Hosts do not see guests' full phone numbers.
- With service providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of your information: hosting and database (Supabase), SMS delivery and phone verification (Twilio), push notifications (Expo), and error monitoring (Sentry).
- When required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while you use the Service. Guest information for an event is kept for as long as needed to run that event and handle questions about it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
- Opt out of texts by replying STOP.
- Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- Ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing hello@amilla.io.
Children
Hilo is meant for adults organizing events. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date above and let members know in the app.
